Are you guys ready to scr-mi-mimage?

Richie - The Benchwarmers

20 Feb 08 What a difference playing for a spot right before roster cuts can make.
Wednesday the Philadelphia Soul and New York Dragons scrimmaged for the second time in as many weeks. While the unoffical outcome was the same the level of play was better.

Players were flying around getting after the ball like their spot on the team depended on it. For nearly a dozen of the "bubble" players it did.

The second time was not a charm for af2 stand out Larry Kendrick. For the second season he failed to catch on with the Soul. Somewhat surprising was the release of WR Scottie Vines and LB Raheem Orr. DL Ryan LaCasse, DB Reggie Lewis, and WR J.J. Outlaw were also waived following the scrimmage.

But the game and cuts isn't the sole focus of this piece. A single element bringing radical change to the game was implemented. One that brings additional technology and safety to the playing field and limitless potential to the fans in the seats. Ladies and gentlemen may I present to you...

The TARD Helmet

Apparently there were scores of Umpires around the league getting concussions from either footballs, football players, or football fans. Either that or the league is admitting some officials have Hiltonesque intelligence.
