Mo' Mo'... D-Mo That Is

The Philadelphia Soul have re-signed OL/DL Dwayne Missouri. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The German born San Antonio Texas native signed a 2 year deal after finishing his best AFL season thus far.

Dwayne Anthony Missouri, the 6' 5" former Northwestern Wildcat (and admitted Redskins fan), has led the Soul in sacks each of the last three seasons.

After a brief stint in the NFL with Baltimore and Dallas, Missouri was the first player signed by the, then expansion, Soul. He was acquired on September 17, 2003 in a trade from the Colorado Crush for Philadelphia's pick in the 04 expansion draft.

At Northwestern U Missouri played sparingly his first two years. As a junior he started all 12 games at left defensive end and collected 34 tackles (seven for a loss) and three sacks. He broke up three passes, recorded a tackle for loss in each of the last five games of the season, and had two TFLs vs. Ohio State including a sack. Dwayne's first career sack came against Duke.

As a senior he was voted Second team All-Big Ten by both the coaches and the media. Started all 11 games at left defensive end. Led the team with 20 tackles for loss, which tied him for fourth in the conference and the second best in school history. Finished fifth all-time in NU career record book with 29 TFLs. Missouri also led the team with eight quarterback hurries and five sacks while recording 52 tackles. Had season-highs of nine tackles and two sacks against Miami (Ohio). Dwayne was the 1999 recipient of Northwestern's Thomas Airth Spirit Award. He earned championship performance recognition four times, defensive player of the game twice and big playmaker of the game once.

At Roosevelt High he was named first-team all-state, all-district and all-city his senior season. Named the Defensive Player of the Year in San Antonio and Second-team all-district and honorable mention all-city. Missouri led the team to a perfect 16-0 record and state championship in 1995.
Dwayne also lettered twice in track throwing the shot put (those skinny legs kept him from running track). And he was a two time Academic All-District and Member of National Honor Society and honor roll.
