This time winning the coin toss and electing to defer didn't help the Soul. Neither did the cool little end zone sway thing the team did before the opening kickoff.
In the toughest contest this season the Soul could never get things going and fell to the Georgia Force 57-49.
Philadelphia trailed from the first posession and could only manage to tie the game once at the end of the first quarter. The Force showed why they are the top offense in the AFL with Troy Bergeron scoring 4 TDs on 8 catches for 182 yards. Chris Jackson added another 8 catches for 124 yards and a pair of scores. Force QB Chris Greisen went 22 of 29 for 344 yards and 7 TDs.
By way of comparison Soul QB Tony Graziani managed just 22 completions on 36 attempts with only 3 TDs. None of the Soul players had over 90 yards receiving.
Both defenses managed a single interception but neither managed a single sack. The only Soul pass break up came from DL Dwayne Missouri and only Felipe Claybrooks had more than a single tackle. Eddie Moten's interception streak ended and his coverage skills were exposed. Tempers ran high all game both in the stands and on the field. More out of frustration than anything else.
The Soul played an ugly game Monday night and the general malaise felt throughout was best expressed by one of the Soul's owners.

Summing it up.
Of course penalties, missed calls, and general ineptitude on the part of the officals played a part in the score. But not in the outcome. The Force played a better game than the Soul pure and simple.
While the game will count as a loss at least now the Soul have played a strong team and can better measure themselves against the other teams in the league. With their unbeaten streak ended they can focus on the next game.
The one they may have been looking to for the last two weeks. The undefeated Dallas Desperados.
