Philet of Soul Mission Statement
PhiletofSoul.com (PoS) is a website presented by and for fans of the Philadelphia Soul.
The contents of the site are not meant to be malicious or degrading to any part of the Soul organization. There is no conscious effort by the operators of this site to present a negative image of the Soul or those in it's employ. The primary goal of the site is to present an outlet for expression and creativity. Often through the use of humor in either written or pictorial format.
PoS is strictly a Non-Jovi zone. PoS gratefully acknowledges Mr. Bon Jovi's role in the existence of the team. The celebrity and associated drawing power of the more famous owner of the Philadelphia Soul cannot be denied. Additionally the Soul has many fans and increased visibility because of the aforementioned ownership for which we are grateful.
However, there are also an increasingly large number of fans that are fans because of the existence of the team, and could care less about those behind the scenes.
This site is made by and for those fans. Non team Bon Jovi-related submissions, via message board, submitted pictures, or otherwise, are not allowed on PoS. Any such submissions will be summarily deleted or modified, at the discretion of the administration. Repeated infractions will result in the permanent removal of violators from the site.
Soul fans who were introduced to the team via Bon Jovi fandom are more than welcome to be a part of PoS. The administration does not wish to exclude any one person or group of people based on their personal tastes. There are plenty of other venues in which to express opinions about Jon Bon Jovi. PoS has no intention to become one of them.
We regret any the alienation of any potential member/visitor that does not feel they are able to comply with this guideline. Perhaps at a later date when those people are able to separate the two entities they will be better able to enjoy this Philadelphia Soul fan site.
This site also makes use of parody in works that imitate another work in order to ridicule, ironically comment on, or poke some affectionate fun at the work itself, the subject of the work, the author or fictional voice of the parody, or another subject.
Although a parody can be considered a derivative work under United States Copyright Law, it can be protected under the fair use doctrine, which is codified in 17 USC § 107. The Supreme Court of the United States stated that parody
is the use of some elements of a prior author's composition to create a new one that, at least in part, comments on that author's works.
Parody is closely related to satire and is often used in conjunction with it to make a point. However, satire is usually used when someone is earnestly trying to push for change. Parodies are sometimes done with respect and appreciation of the subject involved, while not being a heedless sarcastic attack.
